From Chef John’s Food Wishes Facebook

If a person looks through the best cooking YouTube guy for his typical American breakfast or to learn cooking from scratch for Asian Pilaf, Chef John Armand Mitzewich, commonly referred to as Chef John, is no doubt the first option. There are several reasons to look up to him and learn from him. But before digging a bit deeper, a quick look at his achievements to understand that he is in a class by himself.

Chef John’s achievements:

His cooking career started when he was 20 and freshly graduated from Paul Smith’s College and received an Associate in Applied science degree, with honors, in Culinary Arts/Chef Training. He “held just about every position possible in the food industry” including Executive Sous Chef at the Carnelian Room, Sous Chef at Ryan’s Café, and Garde Manager at the San Francisco Opera. When he accomplished every possible skill, in 2007 he left his full-time career to fulfill his dream to teach people cooking.

His teaching strategy:

Till now his image of one of his kind is been clearly stated but that’s not all. He has his own YouTube channel while it’s just a video tutorial of what he publishes on his blog. His recipes are split between his blog and YouTube channel basically. At this moment, he has more than 3.7 million subscribers on YouTube channel.

Way of teaching:

It’s quite interesting to note that all of his YouTube videos are kept as short as possible, while in each video his hands and the necessary kitchen utensils are focused with his voice edited in the background. His intro line for every video goes by “Hello, this is Chef John from Foodwishes.com, with (the name of the dish in an excited tone)! That’s right” and I can hear it. His cooking method is really simple and short that a beginner with barely any cooking skills can understand but along all of it he doesn’t miss a single tip and trick of cooking. If there’s are a person with a lack of self-confidence in his cooking skills even, he’ll be confident that he can do it, that’s the way he teaches you. That’s certainly because in most videos he’ll say “After all, you’re the (any celeb’s name) of your (name of the dish being cooked, rhymed word)!”.

All of the facts uttered above clearly shows that there hardly is anyone else like him. I think it’s just his love for food or his passion for teaching cooking either way it makes him perfectly fit to be a cooking teacher. Anyone even those with their culinary skills of beginner to home cooks or pursuing their dream of licensed cook can look up to him and learn a lot from him.
